With members of my extended family being Italian immigrants in America, I was brought up within a mixture of American and Italian cultures.

I learned both languages simultaneously, celebrated Halloween and Thanksgiving, skateboarded, and was a huge fan of Eminem and all of the ‘90s-’00s rap artists. But outside my household, the local reality was completely different from what I imagined.
